Alchemy, a Texas-based company with offices in the US and Toronto, provides SaaS tools for the QSR industry, serving major brands like Tim Hortons and Burger King. Their solutions include guest feedback tools, store manager operational tools, food quality management, BI dashboards, and training platforms for operational excellence.

Problem/Goal:

The QSR giant operates in 85 countries, requiring training content localized into 18 languages. With each new market entry, the company faced the challenge of localizing training content into unsupported languages at an estimated cost of $250,000 per language. The goal was to reduce these costs while accelerating content localization to support faster market rollouts.

Solution:

We conducted a comprehensive analysis of the localization process, identifying content production (voice talent recording, video production, subtitle generation) as the most expensive and time-consuming steps. To address these challenges, we proposed an AI-enabled Intelligent Content Creator. This innovative tool transforms English-language content into multiple languages by leveraging AI technologies such as Speech-to-Text, Machine Translation, and Text-to-Speech.

The solution enables content to be localized at the click of a button, eliminating dependency on voice talent and studio re-edits. Unlike traditional methods that require extensive manual processes, including scheduling voice talent, booking studios, and managing repetitive editing cycles, this automated approach drastically simplifies the workflow. It ensures faster turnaround times and significantly reduces costs, allowing businesses to focus resources on other critical areas. By building a scalable framework atop existing technologies, we ensured future adaptability for additional languages.

Workflow Example:

  • Provide the source path of the content and the desired target language to the tool.

  • The system loads the video file and extracts audio.

  • Extracted audio is converted to text using Speech-to-Text technology.

  • Text is translated into the target language via Machine Translation.

  • The translated text undergoes NLP parsing to refine accuracy.

  • Text is then converted back to speech using Text-to-Speech technology.

  • The new audio is merged with the original video and published to the CDN (Content Delivery Network).

Results:

  • A proof-of-concept system was developed, supporting Canadian English (en-ca) to Canadian French (fr-ca) and US English (en) to US Spanish (es-us).

  • Predicted 40% savings in translation and production costs.

  • Estimated 20-30% reduction in content localization turnaround time.

  • Potential savings of $250,000 per language localized, enabling businesses to scale more effectively by reinvesting these savings into global expansion and operational improvements, ultimately boosting profitability and competitive advantage.

Conclusion

This solution addresses ongoing training challenges in the QSR industry, where content is frequently updated, and localization costs are consistently high. The Intelligent Content Creator significantly reduces costs and accelerates content delivery by automating the process, ensuring global training content remains effective and accessible.
